\"Renovatieverplichting\"<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

A variety of climate targets have been outlined at Flemish, national and European level. One of these objectives is that all homes should be climate neutral by 2050. This means that every home must have energy label A, which corresponds to an EPC rating below 100 kWh\/m\u00b2 per year, by 2050. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

RENOVATION OBLIGATION<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

In order to meet this ambitious climate target, all homes and flats with energy label E or F purchased from 2023 onwards will be required to<\/strong> <\/em>be renovated to energy label D, or higher, within 5 years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Label D, however, is only a first and intermediate step. Suppose the property is resold afterwards, it is up to the new owner to renovate again. That’s because acquisitions from 2028 onwards will require renovation to energy label C, or higher. The ultimate objective is for all single-family homes to have energy label A by 2050.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the moment, only \u2018new owners\u2019 are affected. In the long term, however, it is expected that other property owners will also be required to carry out renovation work<\/strong> in order to slow climate change.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With a view to being ready to face the future and remaining attractive in the housing market, energy-consuming homes should therefore be thoroughly renovated to be energy-efficient as soon as possible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
