MIPIM Awards 2024

We are more than proud to announce that Royale Belge took home two MIPIM Awards: Best conversion project and Best mixed-use project!

The renovation of Royale Belge’s exceptional site revitalizes an iconic building and its surrounding 11-hectare park. Offering offices, a hotel, restaurants, coworking spaces, an auditorium and a health center, the mixed programme supports the building’s reintegration into Brussels’ urban life and fabric.

ALL-IN-ONE-HOSPITALITY CONCEPT

Originally designed by René Stapels and Pierre Dufau, Royale Belge is an audacious example of the luxurious business architecture of the 1960s. Originally developed as the headquarters of Royale Belge Insurance, today the more than 40,000 m² listed building meets all contemporary requirements, without losing its heritage value and offers, in addition to office and coworking space, a 180-room hotel, conference centre, food market, three restaurants and a fitness centre with indoor and outdoor swimming pool.

The impressive new vertical hall connects the spaces on the ground, first and second floors and allows light to penetrate to the core of the building.

Together with Urbicoon, Foresite and APE, CORES Development has been working on the reconversion of the impressive office building.  The new Royal Belge building, conceived and designed by Caruso St John Architects and Bovenbouw Architectuur, has been completed in collaboration with DDS+.
