INTERIOR TIPS - STYLED BY ANOUK
N
At the start of the Louise Marie project, local Anouk Taeymans not only shared some hotspots but also – and mainly – her vision on the project, coupled with some styling tips.
Two years into the project, the structural work on both buildings is coming to an end and a number of aspects are becoming much more apparent inside. In order to achieve an overall look of the finishing touches, CORES once again called on Anouk’s expertise and received some useful tips for future residents in the process.
In this blog series “Styled by Anouk”, we will be giving many handy interior tips in the coming weeks.
Create a sense of space and welcoming vibe by making use of the existing elements
Now that the plans are much more detailed, we can start thinking about how to make the best use of the different spaces and finishes and emphasise the qualities of the different types.
An apartment must have a degree of coherence, a complete image that ties in nicely with the rest of the development.
To furnish the new interior, we have decided to combine the slightly cooler tile in the lounge with warmer and cosier materials, including oak wood and linen curtains.
The colour of the window frames is echoed in the details of the interior by means of black accents, such as the fine curtain rod, the lounge chair and the elegant lamp above the island. A real eye catcher! We deliberately refrained from using brass or white here, as these create too many different ‘languages’. Each element wants to say something and the apartment radiates coherence when the objects speak the same ‘language’.
We have opted in favour of large surfaces in light tones that reflect the light. The large window sections are an extra bonus here. They draw in an enormous amount of daylight. Another good tip to optically enlarge the room is that by extending the curtain rods into the corner and letting the curtains overlap the wall and the window profile, you give the impression that the windows behind the curtains extend into the corners.
By encasing the radiators, which are often considered eyesores, we have created extra display space.
Repeating the same style outside on the terrace takes the same vibe outdoors. Think of the black details on the butterfly chair. We have also used the same flower pots for indoor and outdoor use.
We will soon publish more interior design tips in our blog series ‘Styled by Anouk’. So watch this space.
